Our ‘new’ Eco-vehicle

Our ‘new’ Eco-vehicle

Well, I’ve finally done it – got rid of my collection of rusting/unused 4x4s and replaced them with a Peugeot 106 XND ‘Graduate’ diesel capable of running on straight vegetable oil.

So, the ‘fleet’ now comprises (well, it will when the ‘Pug’ arrives) of my expedition Toyota and the Peugeot, both of which are capable (and in the case of the Toyota, has been for some time) of running on straight vegetable oil, or even better, filtered used cooking oil.

The addition of the very secondhand Peugeot ensures that there are no additional build cost damage to the environment and the newly ‘found’ space the vehicles have been occuppying has been liberated for food production.

It now means that shortly I will be able to do any ‘running’ around in a vehicle capable of obtaining nearly three time the distance that the Toyota can undertake for the same amount of SVO and cost, even if it’s free when using filtered used cooking oil!

A nice way to celebrate ‘Earth Day’.

UPDATE:

I’ve now discovered there’s a nearby supplier of rapeseed oil, grown and processed locally, so I’ll be investigating very shortly.
