New electric cycle
New electric bicycle is ideally suited to commuters
A new and very sleek-looking, electrically-assisted bicycle is perfectly suited to urban commuters looking to leave their cars at home.
The Go Cycle folding city bike is no fanciful concept, it is a fully-functioning, pre-production prototype due to go on sale later this year for £1100.
Every element of the bike has been designed for ease of use: the chain is fully enclosed and requires no maintenance, the battery is unobtrusive and easily removed for charging and the frame and wheels are made from lightweight magnesium.
With a range of 10 miles on battery power alone and a top speed limited to 15mph, the bike is more than capable of tackling the average commute. At journey’s end it can be disassembled without the need for tools.
A spokesperson for cycle insurers, the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), said: “The Go Cycle is a beautifully-designed, practical and affordable electric vehicle a perfect alternative to cars and public transport for commuters.”
